The gene Cyclin-dependent kinase subunit 30A is referred to in FlyBase by the symbol Cks30A (CG3738, FBgn0010314). It has the cytological map location 30A8. Its sequence location is 2L:9330767..9331981. Its molecular function is described as: cyclin-dependent protein kinase activity; protein binding; cyclin-dependent protein kinase regulator activity; protein serine/threonine kinase activity. It is involved in the biological processes: positive regulation of mitotic metaphase/anaphase transition; protein amino acid phosphorylation; cell cycle; histoblast morphogenesis; spindle assembly; syncytial blastoderm mitotic cell cycle; cyclin catabolic process; female meiosis. 7 alleles are reported. The phenotypes of these alleles are annotated with: embryonic/first instar larval cuticle; aster; spindle pole centrosome; spindle. It has one annotated transcript and one annotated polypeptide.

Gene/Allele symbols may differ from current usage
rem: remnants (T. Schupbach)
Maternal effect lethal; eggs laid by females homozygous for rem1 show no visible sign of development when observed under transmitted light in stereomicroscope; eggs derived from rem2 often allow embryonic development; those embryos form fragmented cuticle with variable holes and head defects.

Mutations in Cks30A show a strict maternal effect phenotype with defects during presyncytial stages.
The yeast interaction trap selection has been used to isolate cell cycle regulatory proteins that interact with cdc2 and cdc2c. Cks30A interacts with cdc2 and cdc2c.
Yeast two-hybrid system has been used to characterise Cyclin-dependent kinase interactor proteins (the prey) in hunts with either cdc2 or cdc2c as baits. Cks30A interacts with cdc2 cdc2c and CycJ, and other human and S.cerevisiae cyclin-dependent kinases to activate transcription of a reporter gene, Ecol\lacZ.
Isolated by interaction with cdc2 and cdc2c using the interaction trap two hybrid system.
