Automatically generated summary
See sections below for more information | The gene corkscrew is referred to in FlyBase by the symbol csw (CG3954, FBgn0000382). It has the cytological map location 2D1-2D2. Its sequence location is X:1988269..2007698. Its molecular function is described as: non-membrane spanning protein tyrosine phosphatase activity; protein tyrosine phosphatase activity; protein binding; receptor signaling protein tyrosine phosphatase activity. It is involved in the biological processes described with 16 unique terms, many of which group under: anatomical structure development; open tracheal system development; anterior/posterior axis specification; transmembrane receptor protein tyrosine kinase signaling pathway; tripartite regional subdivision; sensory organ development; regulation of compound eye photoreceptor development; biopolymer modification; central nervous system development; protein modification process; establishment and/or maintenance of polarity of follicular epithelium. 47 alleles are reported. The phenotypes of these alleles are annotated with 39 unique terms, many of which group under: organ system; peripheral nervous system; nervous system; adult segment; adult mesothoracic segment; primordium; thoracic segment; embryonic/larval tracheal system; tracheal system; portion of tissue; appendage segment. It has 3 annotated transcripts and 3 annotated polypeptides. | |||

Phenotypic Description from the Red Book (Lindsley & Zimm 1992)
| ||||
| Gene/Allele symbols may differ from current usage | csw: corkscrew
Hemizygotes die at the larval-pupal transition;
dissected third-instar larvae display small imaginal disks.
Larval neuroblast cells show low mitotic index, but chromosome
morphology appears normal. Homozygous germ-line clones produce inviable embryos with U-shaped or twisted phenotypes,
which are unaffected by paternal genotype or developmental
temperature. csw6 is viable and fertile with rough eyes.
