      hide Detailed Description
      Statement
      Reference
Expression of srb.Scer\UAS in the developing mesoderm using Scer\GAL4how-24B does not cause muscle defects. Expression of srb.Scer\UAS in the ventral midline using Scer\GAL4sim.PS results in strong distortion of the ventral muscles, which frequently cross the midline. Expression of srb.Scer\UAS using Scer\GAL4en-e16E produces a disturbed muscle pattern, and lateral transverse muscles with abnormally elongated processes are seen. Expression of srb.Scer\UAS using Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 produces a disturbed muscle pattern, and fused myotubes of abnormal shape are seen. Expression of srb.Scer\UAS using Scer\GAL4h.6 results in the absence of ventral longitudinal and lateral transversal muscles in abdominal segments 5 to 7. Ubiquitous expression of srb.Scer\UAS using Scer\GAL4hs.2sev results in an abnormal muscle pattern only when expression occurs prior to embryonic stage 15. When expressed at stage 12 using Scer\GAL4hs.2sev, abnormal outgrowth of muscles is seen.
Expression of srb.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4sr-md710 results in a severe decrease in the number of microchaetae on the notum. Expression of srb.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-C253 results in a total lack of bristles on the notum.

Co-expression of srb.Scer\UAS removes most of the ectopic bristles on the notum caused by expression of scScer\UAS.cHa under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-C253 and also removes many of the extant ones.
