Detailed Description
| |||
Statement Reference Mutation is leaky, some hemizygous males survive. Viability of these males is reduced at 18oC. Male adult cuticle and bristles are very pale with a yellowish cast. Pupae cases are also very pale. Recovered as suppressor of b; cold-sensitive in males and females. At 25oC, qs2/qs2 females only 1% viable but qs2/Y males as viable as wild type.

Comments
| |||
Mutation decreases phenol oxidase activity. The thermolabile profile suggest that the thermostable component is absent or altered. At 60oC both the qs2 activators are inactivated within 2 minutes. A large build up of the DOPA pool suggests the function that produces DOPA may not be affected. The catecholamine pool size is reduced.
