Detailed Description
	Statement Reference Specific DDC activity of newly eclosed adult CyO/Ddc heterozygotes, as percentage of CyO/+ control: 28.4 Adult escapers of the lethality show prolonged development time and die within 24 hours of eclosion, their bristles are thin and straw coloured, and body does not darken, the wing axillae are melanized similar to the mutant phenotype of sp, the leg joints are melanized similar to a wound reaction, and they walk on their tibia rather than their tarsi, although they are coordinated. (Wright et al., 1976) Ddc^ts1 heterozygotes with Ddc null alleles show temperature-dependent sterility. (Wright et al., 1981)

	Alleles of Ddc show intracistronic complementation. Ddc⁵ complements Ddc¹, Ddc², Ddc³, Ddc⁴, Ddc⁵, Ddc⁶ and Ddc⁸, and all complementary combinations involve Ddc⁵ or Ddc⁸. (Wright et al., 1976) Certain combinations of Ddc alleles show intragenic complementation. (Wright et al., 1982)
